Romantic Dinner Ideas
Author: webmasterWhat could be better than a romantic night at home? With a little planning and a some preparation, your evening in could rival any dinner date you have ever had out on-the-town so far. Being romantic is about expressing your emotions through your actions.
Here are a few ideas for making your night successful:
IDEA #1: Even if you are not a graduate of the “Swiss School”, and your culinary masterpiece doesn’t quite match the picture in the recipe book, you will earn MAJOR points for having made it yourself. Trust me on this one.
IDEA #2: Set the mood with standards. You will want to have some music playing in the background that complements your efforts. For my money, the mid-20th century crooners, like Frank Sinatra or Ella Fitzgerald have always had a classy, timeless, romantic air about them.
IDEA #3: Candles in moderation. Too many candles could signal that you are actually a) at a funeral home, b) in a Madonna video or, c) a deity’s shrine. I recommend keeping it to two candles. Long stem is traditional, but consider the overall effect when deciding.
IDEA #4: Dress for Success. Just as you would when going out to an upscale restaurant with your date, wear your “Sunday best” to distinguish this evening from just “hangin’ out”.
IDEA #5: Spill the Wine. Select a good wine that complements the food you have prepared. Fill your and your date’s glasses two to three minutes before you are ready to serve the meals.
IDEA #6: Cater Dessert. It’s okay that you did not make this one yourself. Really. Pick up a couple of slices of cheesecake from the local bakery on the way home. Use funky dessert plates and forks. It’s dessert. It’s supposed to be festive. You may want to serve it with coffee, as well.
IDEA #7: Washing up. Be sure to enlist your date’s help in washing the dishes. In a small kitchen where there isn’t too much room to move around, you will be encouraged to naturally touch and brush by one another which can help create intimacy. Also, working together towards a common goal is great for bonding.
